Music is so fast-paced these days with countless streaming services giving us unlimited access to almost everything ever recorded but sometimes, you just end up with the biggest scorers like Taylor Swift and Kayne West. Now thereâs nothing wrong with supporting you favorite superstars but what about those artists who have only just come out or even the ones who have yet to emerge big on the scene? Well weâve decided to bring you the hottest artists set to take the music industry by storm in 2017 but you might not have heard of yet.
2016 was the break-out year for DIY rocker, Courtney Barnett. She realeased her full-length debut album, Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit back in March on two labels, Mom and Pop and her own label, Milk Records which she runs with girlfriend and fellow-musicia, Jen Cloher. She scored high in Top Rock Albums, Independent Albums charts and Twitter Emerging Artists chart before going on tour for the rest of the year to rave reviews. She also took home an array of tropies at Australiaâs Indpendent Music Awards including Best Album.

James Bay is a British singer-songwriter that might not be that well-known in the USA but with three Grammy nominations under his belt, you can bet youâll be hearing a lot more about him in 2017. Bay recently won the Critics’ Choice honor at the Brit Awards Nominations and is now up for three Grammys, Best New Artist, Best Rock Album (Chaos and Calm) and Best Rock Song (Hold Back the River).
Heâs best known for his warbling falsetto and was discovered back in 2012 by an A&R rep who saw YouTube footage of him performing at an open mic. He then signed with Republic Records that same year. Since then he released a string of Eps, including The Dark of the Morning, his debut EP that built up to the album Chaos in March 2015. The album took the No. 1 spot on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.

Sam Hunt is the simmeringly hot college quarterback turned country star with a hip-hop edge. Heâs been causing a stir with his genre transgression putting a unique and modern twist on the country genre as a whole and now with Grammy nominations for Best Country Album and Best New Artist, heâs firmly asserting his place in the mainstream music scene. His debut full-length, Montevallo is set as country but cleverly blends the tones of hip-hop, EDM and pop.
He began his career behind the scenes as a music writer and is responsible for hits like Kenny Chesneyâs Come Over and Billy Curringtonâs We Are Tonight before recording his own album Montevallo in 2014 and becoming a star himself. He held the number one spot on Â Top Country Albums chart for nine non-consecutive weeks and. seven out of the 10 album tracks scored high on the Hot Country Songs chart with three going to No. 1. One his biggest acheivements was both his single Leave the Night On and album Montevallo being in the Top Country Albums, making him the first artist in more than 22 years to lead both charts simultaneously with a freshman single and album.

Tori Kelly first gained popularity on YouTube a few years back by posting cover-song videoclips receiving millions of plays. Following the June release of her studio debut, Unbreakable Smile sheâs now up for a Best New Artist Award at the Grammys so she is definitely one to watch out for. Sheâs been active on the music scene since aged 12 after signing with Geffen Records but her story has been fraught with disappointment. However, she persevered with strength self-releasing her first EP, Homemade Songs and signed up with manager, Scooter Braun who handles Justin Beiber. Things then really took off with Capitol Records debut, Unbreakable Smile entering the Billboard at Number 2.
Sheâs known as a singer with a powerful voice and this is one of the reasons that earned her the title of standout performer at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards.

Jared Porter and Kaylee Bell
Porter and Bell are the 2015 Grand Prize winners of Winners of Unsignedonly. They are solo artists individually but teamed up to write and perform a stunning duet delivering a beautiful and emotional song, Pieces. The song went to Number 1 on the Australia Country Music charts.
Both artists are also Toyota Star Maker winners as well as clocking up a whole bunch of awards including winning the APRA New Zealand Best Country Song award for Pieces. Daniel Wilson is from Ypsilanti, Michigan and was named one of Time Magazineâs 15 Musical Artists to Watch in 2015. Time magazine as well as landing a spot in the Guardian Musicâs band of the month in March 2016.
Wilson found his break through moment with his third EP, Sinner of the Week would appear to be his breakthrough moment: his latest (third) EP, Sinner of the Week. The original track was recorded using budget computer software, a home laptop and his motherâs vintage tape recorder but the released version you can now buy has benefited from super cool studio enhancements from uber-producers Matt Hales (Disclosure, Lianne La Havas), Jimmy Harry (Madonna, Weezer), and Jimmy Hogarth (James Bay, Sia).
